In the past week, the Virginia Cavaliers were the top dog in all of college baseball. Now with a 7-0 record, the defending champions The LSU Tigers are the team to beat. Their recent sweep came when they took three games from William & Mary in Tucson, Arizona. According to

baseballnews.com, LSU is averaging 8.8 runs per game and in seven games, their pitching staff has struck out 59 batters. The defending champions are looking to repeat, and if they stay hot, they are going to be very hard to beat in Omaha.

Who Will Beat The Yankees?

During the off-season The Yankees acquired Javier Vazquez. Along with CC Sabathia, A.J. Burnett and Andy Pettite in the starting rotation, it is going to be hard to score runs off of the starters. Since Javier is in the starting rotation I see Joba Chamberlain moving back to the set up role where we can see the power pitcher hit 100 mph. The strong defense also will be hard to take advantage of with Mark Teixeira, Robinson Cano, Derek Jeter, and Alex Rodiguez. And don’t forget that all those can hit. The Yankees are going to be very hard to beat, is a repeat in the making?

The Prince Finding A New Palace Next Year?

In 2011, Prince Fielder will be a free agent. I do not see Fielder leaving The Milwaukee Brewers. He is the face of that franchise after CC Sabathia left and signed a huge deal with The Yankees. The team that has been thrown in the mix for signing Prince Fielder besides The Brewers, who will make a huge offer next year, are The Boston Red Sox. In the end, it’s up to Prince Fielder and his agent. But will “The Prince Of Baseball” keep his palace in Milwaukee or build a larger one somewhere else in the country? Who knows what the Big Guy is thinking.

I hope all of you remember the Orioles, there located in Baltimore. With studs like Nick Markakis and Miguel Tejada, they think they are done piecing things together when interviewed with mlb.com. With arguably the best outfields in all of baseball, The Orioles want to make it to the playoffs. They will first have to pass teams like The Yankees and The Red Sox for the AL East and Wildcard. But don’t be surprised if the Orioles are in the hunt for a spot in the playoffs.

Brendan Harris Still A Twin

As Brendan Harris’ contract reached its final year last year, The Twins were unsure what to do along with eight other player’s who’s contracts had expired. “The contract process is a difficult one every year and we’re pleased that we were able to reach a fair agreement with all eight players,” Twins general manager Bill Smith said on Tuesday evening when interviewed with Kelly Thesier at MLB.com. Harris is obviously a key player for The Twins because he was the only player to receive a multi-year deal which would put $3.2 million in his pocket and over $650,00 in incentives. The native from Queensbury is in consideration to be the starting third-basemen. Making just $466,000 dollars last year, jumping up to $1.75 in 2010 will sure make the local a bigger star.

They are simple in the fact that they want to be playing in October. Every team wants to play in October and that’s the ultimate goal for every team. Strong in the fact that numbers wise on the team, everyone will tell you that. The Rays have the talent without a doubt but key people like Evan Longoria, B.J. Upton and their pitching with Jeff Niemann and James Shields need to step up. There is no question that you can see The Rays Playing in October.

With eight years and $200 plus million dollars on A-Rod’s contract experts say that the next few years will define Alex Rodriguez. We all know he has had his up’s and down’s and I will have to agree with experts. As A-Rod said in an interview with Anthony DiComo at MLB.com, “A humongous gorilla that came off my back” (referring to winning his first world championship which some skeptics thought with his luck would never happen. I personally love the way Rodriguez play’s the game. He has overcome so many obstacles that the next few years will be what A-Rod is remembered for.

Last Year Before Being A Free Agent

This is the last year on Derek Jeter’s ten-year 189 million dollar contract. He has been a major part of the Yankees for the past nine years and like always will be the captain and leader on the New York Yankees who will try to repeat their World Championship title. Jeter does not want to play anywhere else and I personally do not see him leaving New York. Can you see Jeter playing for another ball club. No, the first few things you think of when Yankees is said is, world championships, Babe Ruth, Graig Nettles, Mariano Rivera, and of course Derek Jeter. Sorry to all the ball clubs out there but Jeter is staying in New York.

Siena Takes One At Stetson

Under Coach Tony Rossi, the Siena Saints were able to take one game from Stetson during their season opener series. Throughout the whole series Siena held there own and were able to have chances to win more than one game. With freshman Robert Tedesco from Mohonasen on the hill in the first game shows how good Siena can be throughout the whole year. Mike Fish, who is also a freshman from Bethlehem, Had five hits in the four game series, three coming in the second game. Siena will be a great contender to be the top dog in the MAAC conference with their impact freshman and experienced veterans.

Manny Ramirez arrived at spring training earlier this week and announced that this would be his final spring training with the Los Angeles Dodgers. According to espn.go.com this is what Manny stated, “I won’t be here next year, so I just want to enjoy myself,” Ramirez said. “I don’t know [if he'll play next year]. I just know I’m not going to be here. When the season is over, I will see where I’m at.” The show boating, right-handed power hitting, left fielder has had his ups and downs since being traded to ironically Joe Torre’s, former Yankee skipper, with injury and steroids. Where do you see Manny next year, playing golf or shagging fly balls in left field for another organization?
